On Sunday 13th August 2017 Ullswater Physiotherapy travelled down to Ford Park in Ulverston South Lakes to the Hoad Hill Marathon & Half marathon. We were on hand for all runners providing sports physiotherapy assessments, treatments and sports massage on the day. One Hundred and Five runners took part in the half marathon, 57 in the marathon and 41 kids did a mini race involving 2 laps of the big playing fields. We were based in the marquee alongside First Aid, working with athletes from all over the area including locals from Ulverston and runners from further afield.
The weather was kind and provided a mostly sunny day but not too hot for
runners. We are pleased to report there were no major injuries on the day and we only saw a sprained ankle and a few exhausted runners with cramp and blisters.
We worked with some amazing athletes from the podium finishers to the late finishers all of whom said they had a great day and were pleased to be finished. The runners were all full of praise for the event saying the scenery and countryside was so beautiful to run in and the event was well organised with good support.
We really enjoyed the day and are fortunate to have had some really great feedback including a message off marathon finisher Jackie Oakes “Thank you for the post marathon massage yesterday. Aching back and joints but leg muscles working!”
Another great day out for Ullswater Physiotherapy.
