At Ullswater Physiotherapy & Sports Injuries Clinic we have combined our Physiotherapy and Podiatry skills to offer our specialist orthotics assessment and prescription service. Mary the Physio has undertaken extensive post-graduate study in Orthotics Prescription at the University of Huddersfield and has a keen interest in lower limb biomechanics and gait analysis.
Orthotics are supportive and ergonomically contoured insoles discreetly placed in your footwear to support and offload painful structures and redistribute the pressures under your foot. We often prescribe from our range of prefabricated orthotics in clinic and customise them to the individual as required. This provides support to the foot during walking and running and many of our patients find this very helpful alongside their rehabilitation exercise plan.
Following a detailed history taking and examination (including Clinical Gait Analysis) we may suggest that a corrective insole might help alongside your rehab plan. We stock a variety of high quality insoles that are discreetly fitted into footwear to suit different foot types (e.g. lowered arches) or biomechanical issues (e.g. under or over pronation).
Insoles should be worn in gradually and we recommend a period of adjustment which can take a few weeks. We are so confident in the products we stock that we offer a 60 day money back guarantee, so if you don’t get on with your insoles and prefer not to wear them, then we would fully support that decision with a full refund.
